Zebra Rock Mine - Day 80, 27/06/2016

After a very big sleep in we all eventually rose for another perfect day, after breakfast the kids completed some of their school work and updated their travel journals. This afternoon we were booked onto the Wetlands Sunset Safari tour that had been recommended countless times to us and the main reason we had come to stay here.

At 3pm we went on the Zebra Rock Gallery tour and Ruth did a great job explaining the history of the mine and the different rock types that they mine on site, I'd recommend this to anyone staying here as its very informative and its free. At 4pm Max our tour guide/bus driver/boat skipper picked us up and drove us down to the boat to start our tour.

To say we had a great time would be an understatement, the tour is very informal and Max does a great job of accommodating everyone from young kids to the more mature customers. We saw heaps of fresh water crocodiles and lots of different birds, the kids got to drive the boat and after a high speed blast across the lake we were able to jump overboard and cool off. We then went ashore to have some nibbles and drinks before returning to the boat to take in the stunning scenery as the sun went down.

This tour was definitely one of my Kimberley highlights and we would recommend it to anyone and everyone, once back at the campground we had a feed of Silver Cobbler (catfish) and chips which was delicious. Once the kids were safely tucked into bed Anna and I returned to the communal fire for a few more drinks and a chat with the other travelers before turning in for the night.
