Dandabah Camp Ground, Bunya Mountains National Park - 29th to 31st of May

Friday the 29th of May was a Show Day public holiday and the kids had the day off so Anna and I took the day off from work to make the most of a long weekend. We left home mid morning on Friday and just before lunch we arrived at camp. Later in the afternoon we walked down to Festoon Falls and explored the Bunya forest around camp. Dinner was a beautiful Lamb Curry cooked on top of our version of the Ozpig which was great. On Saturday we left camp to tackle the Barker Creek circuit and the side trip out to Big Falls lookout, it was a great walk through some beautiful forest with some spectacular views. We were so proud of both the girls who completed the 11.5km walk without complaining and well and truly deserved their ice cream. At 3.30 we walked down to the bird feeding area so the girls could feed the King Parrots and the Crimson Rosella's and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Amamoor Creek, Amamoor State Forest - 15th to 17th of May

This was a quick trip out to Amamoor State Forest staying at the Amamoor Creek camp ground. We left after school on the Friday afternoon and arrived at the camp ground just as it was getting dark. After a quick set up the girls helped me get the fire going while Anna got dinner ready. On Saturday morning we were joined by Bron, Steve and Alana, we hung out around camp for most of the morning and then went for a stroll down to the swimming hole to see what effect the recent flood events had on the creek. Later in the afternoon we got the fire going so we could get a good bed of coals ready for our camp oven roast dinner. There is something about the camp oven that makes the roasts taste so good and we all enjoyed a spectacular dinner. Sunday arrived too soon as it always does and we kept one eye on the clouds as we were keen to avoid a wet pack up. After morning tea it was decided that we should pack up, once we were done we took the kids for a ride on their bikes to try and burn up
