Glastonbury Camp Ground - 21st and 22nd of June

Image
This trip was a quick overnight visit to Glastonbury camp ground in the Brooyar State Forest. Anna and I had visited here years ago for a quick look when camping at Amamoor Creek and always wanted to come back and camp here. We left home on Saturday morning around 8am and travelled north on the Bruce Highway, just after Gympie we turned left onto the Wide Bay Highway and then entered the north of the park via Petersen’s road. We had previously come in from the south so thought we would try the northern entry for something different. Just before 10am we arrived at the camp ground and found that a large group of scouts or students had spread themselves out over a large area of the camp ground… We drove to the very end of the camping area and found a nice spot that we could fit our campers in. Just after lunch the large group returned, quickly packed up and left which was a pity as I would have preferred the area they were in. The consolation prize was that they left a large pile of

For the Queen’s Birthday long weekend we ventured back out to Crows Nest National Park ( website link ) , it had almost been a year since coming out this way and we were keen to visit again. We left home around 8am on Saturday morning and commenced the drive out to Crows Nest via Kilcoy, Esk, Ravensbourne and Hampton, on the way we stopped for morning tea at the Gus Beutel Lookout in the Ravensbourne National Park.  It was our first visit here and despite not offering any camping options the park is very beautiful and there are several walks to complete. The sites here are fairly small and we still had to squeeze Andrea and her kids in, luckily we had booked sites 9 and 10 and these 2 sites were some of the bigger ones. Around lunch time Andrea arrived and so did most of th

Forgive me I've been slack and I'm a few trips behind on the blog, too busy getting out enjoying the beautiful QLD weather. We picked the kids up from school on  Friday arvo and headed north to Cobb and Co 9 Mile camp ground  (website link) This spot is one of the kids favourite destinations as there is plenty to keep them amused which is great for the adults as we can relax knowing the kids are entertaining themselves in a safe environment. We booked our usual spot and we arrived to find Bron and Steve half way through their set up. We positioned the camper and set about getting set up ourselves, after 20 or 30 minutes we were into our first drinks around our camp fire. On Saturday we relaxed around camp and let the kids do their thing, we had a stroll around the property and checked out the new additions since our last visit. Later in the afternoon the kids wanted to go for a swim (they don’t feel the cold) so we took them down to the Billabong, the water must have
