Illaroo Camp ground, Yuraygir National Park - 7th to 14th of March

A trip to Illaroo has become one of our annual camping destinations, we normally try and visit in April backing onto Easter or Anzac Day long weekends. This year we decided to travel down a little earlier as we were concerned about not getting a spot, Easter falls in the school holidays this year and the QLD and NSW school holiday line up together. On our last 2 trips we have arrived to claim the very last available spot and didn’t want to travel 5 hours to miss out so we thought we would pull the kids out of school for a week and visit in a “quieter” time… We left home on Saturday morning at 4.30am and hit the road, the trip went quickly with one coffee and toilet break on the way. We expected to arrive to an almost empty camp ground and we were shocked to see 75% of the sites occupied… We found a spot that looked nice and started our set up, by lunch time we were finished and ready to relax. We had great weather for most of the time we were there with light coastal breezes, warm

Borumba Dam 14th and 15th of February

This trip was another quick overnighter, we had a great time at Borumba Dam last time so decided to visit again. When we booked we were told that the Dam was closed to all on water activities due to a blue-green algae bloom. This didn't concern us too much as we didn't plan on using the Dam for boating or fishing and in the end it worked in our favour as the usual fishing and skiing crowds weren't there and we almost had the camp ground to ourselves. Bron, Steve and Alana joined us again on this trip and we caught each other on the road and arrived together. We were soon set up when we were joined by Anna’s parents Greg and Lenore and their friends John and Jan who had travelled over from Charlie Morelands camp ground to join us for morning tea. They brought the rain with them and we all had to huddle under shelter together. The weather soon cleared and we spent the rest of the day enjoying the warm weather, after lunch we walked down to the Yabba creek to check out th

Jimna State Forest 7th and 8th February

It has been 2 months since our last camping trip which has to be the longest break we have had from camping. We were all very eager to get back out into the bush and this weekend was our first opportunity after the silly season and getting back into the routine of school and work. This trip was a quick overnighter to Jimna state forest and we got away early on Saturday morning to maximise our time out there. The Peach Tree’s camp ground is undergoing an upgrade with new toilet blocks being added, as a result the camp ground capacities have temporarily been lowered. For this visit there were only a handful of other campers and we all spread out which made it nice a quiet. At the time of our visit the new toilets were not yet finished but it shouldn't be long until they are ready. We were joined by Bron, Steve and Alana on this trip and we had a great time chilling out and doing a lot of nothing. The kids rode their bikes up and down the hills and spotting the turtles in the cre
