Yandilla - Australia Day Long Weekend 2014

For the Australia Day weekend we went back to one of our favourite private camp grounds – Yandilla Farm stay near Kilcoy. It had been well over a year since our last visit and Dave has done quite a lot of work to improve his driveway and crossing of the Kilcoy Creek to make it 2wd friendly. Not that it was ever an issue for us but it means some of our mates without 4wd and off-road campers can come here too. We left home around 8.30 on Saturday morning and had an uneventful  drive up in the rain, we arrived just after 9.30 found our spot and set up in light drizzle. We did plan on camping out in the paddock away from the facilities but there was a large 4wd club set up out there and going by the frantic pointing and hand gestures of one of the old boys from the club we got the hint they didn’t want us too near them… No skin off our nose there were only 4 small groups in the actual camp ground and we found a spot in the corner a suitable distance away from the other groups. We left home around 8.30 and followed the Bruce Highway north to the Imbil exit and soon after leaving the highway and conducting what felt like a loop back down south we arrived at the campground. This was google maps suggested route and to me a more direct path would have been via Maleny and Kenilworth… Bron, Steve and Alana joined us on this trip and we met them at the office, after paying our fees we went in search of a suitable spot for the night. The camp ground was still quite full but we managed to find a spot that wasn’t too close to the other groups of campers. After setting up we explored the area and took the kids down to the Little Yabba creek for a swim, the water here would have to be the coldest in southern QLD. The
