Jimna State Forest 7th and 8th February

It has been 2 months since our last camping trip which has to be the longest break we have had from camping. We were all very eager to get back out into the bush and this weekend was our first opportunity after the silly season and getting back into the routine of school and work. This trip was a quick overnighter to Jimna state forest and we got away early on Saturday morning to maximise our time out there. The Peach Tree’s camp ground is undergoing an upgrade with new toilet blocks being added, as a result the camp ground capacities have temporarily been lowered. For this visit there were only a handful of other campers and we all spread out which made it nice a quiet. At the time of our visit the new toilets were not yet finished but it shouldn't be long until they are ready.

We were joined by Bron, Steve and Alana on this trip and we had a great time chilling out and doing a lot of nothing. The kids rode their bikes up and down the hills and spotting the turtles in the creek. On Sunday morning we walked the Araucaria Circuit which is a 4.5km loop that took us through some open forest up onto a ridge line through some rainforest that contained Bunya and Hoop pines. We have been camping at Peach Trees for almost 8 years and never done this walk before, it was a nice alternative to the short walk around the creek.

After lunch we packed up and had an uneventful trip home, this was a short trip but a great one to get back into it. We left the camera at home so the pictures are from our phones… Sorry in advance.

Trip Distance = 178km
Total distance travelled with camper = 15,289km
Total number of nights in the camper = 105
