Amamoor Creek, Amamoor State Forest - 15th to 17th of May
This was a quick trip out to Amamoor State Forest staying at the Amamoor Creek camp ground. We left after school on the Friday afternoon and arrived at the camp ground just as it was getting dark. After a quick set up the girls helped me get the fire going while Anna got dinner ready.
On Saturday morning we were joined by Bron, Steve and Alana, we hung out around camp for most of the morning and then went for a stroll down to the swimming hole to see what effect the recent flood events had on the creek. Later in the afternoon we got the fire going so we could get a good bed of coals ready for our camp oven roast dinner. There is something about the camp oven that makes the roasts taste so good and we all enjoyed a spectacular dinner.
Sunday arrived too soon as it always does and we kept one eye on the clouds as we were keen to avoid a wet pack up. After morning tea it was decided that we should pack up, once we were done we took the kids for a ride on their bikes to try and burn up some energy before the drive home. We found a walking track that led from the top of the Gympie Muster site up through the forest for 2.5km. It turns out the track wasn't really suitable for push bikes but we kept going and there were so really good stacks by Lily and myself, I should know better and not try and ride the kids bikes down rutted hills.
Once back at camp we jumped in the car and set off home. The amenities have been done up at the Amamoor Creek camp site and the grounds were in great condition, we are lucky to have so many good camp grounds so close to home.
Trip Distance = 230km
