Mitchell Falls - Day 63, 10/06/2016

We got up this  morning and had a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs then got all of our stuff organised before departing on the walk to Mitchell Falls just after 9am. National Parks say to allow 2 to 3 hours for the walk into the falls but we smashed it in just over 1 and a half hours, the girls are doing a really great job on all of these long walks and we are so very proud of them.

The Mitchell Falls are a 3 tier water fall and apparently the biggest in Australia and certainly are very impressive, we were a little disappointed as I had it in my head that you could make it down below the 1st and 2nd tiers and swim in the pools which isn't the case and as a result we had just over 3 hours to kill before our helicopter flight back to camp. We found a nice shady spot on the Mitchell River above the falls and killed time having lunch and swimming in the river, today was again very warm and we all enjoyed the refreshing swim.

Just before 2 we rounded up the kids and made our way to the helicopter landing pad where we met Rick our pilot. The girls and I were very excited, Anna on the other hand not so much as she is not a great flier... The flight was only short 6 minutes in total but very enjoyable and provided great views of the water falls, even Anna enjoyed herself and managed to open her eyes long enough to take a few photo's. Anna is now a helicopter convert and would prefer to fly by helicopter over small planes. Its just a pity we couldn't afford some of the longer flights out over the coast, maybe next time.

Distance Traveled = 0 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 30,398, km
Total number of nights in the camper = 194
