Edith Falls to Douglas Hot Springs - Day 86, 03/07/2016

Edith Falls is a top place to stay and we really enjoyed our time here but it was unfortunately time to move on. Our destination today was the Douglas Hot Springs and we were on the road just before 10am.

We stopped in at Pine Creek to top up the diesel tank then continued onto Douglas Hot Springs, 10 years ago when Anna and I last visited the access road was dirt but it is now sealed most of the way. We arrived at the campground which is divided into generator and non generator sections and we chose the generator section as there was more room.

After setting up and a quick bite to eat we jumped in the car and drove the 17km 4wd track down to Butterfly Gorge, we hadn't been here before and didn't know what to expect. This place is awesome and I'd recommend coming in for a look, its only a short walk down to the water and it doesn't look like much but if swim around the rocky headland down stream for a bit you will see the gorge. If you are feeling adventurous swim across the pool to the narrow gap where the water flows down and you can climb up into a series of pools above the main swimming pool. Our timing was perfect and we had the place to ourselves with groups of people leaving as we walked in and more coming in as we walked back to the car.

Once back at camp we walked down to the Hot Springs and found a nice spot where the hot water was seeping out of the sand and we could dig little holes to mix the hot and cold water.

Distance Traveled = 209 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 32,626, km
Total number of nights in the camper = 217
