El Questro Station - Day 70, 17/06/2016

This morning we got going fairly early to tackle some of the walks before it got too hot. First stop was Zebedee Springs which closes at midday for the exclusive use of the El Questro Homestead guests. The springs are awesome and very popular, we found a nice little pool and relaxed in the warm water for almost an hour before we dragged ourselves away to complete another couple of walks.

We did plan to complete the Moonshine Gorge Circuit but it was getting close to lunch time and the information on the walks suggested that the El Questro Gorge walk would be a better option as it was shaded most of the way. One the way in we stopped to check out Jackaroo's Waterhole and then continued onto the car park for El Questro Gorge.

The walk s very spectacular and you walk through Livistonia Palm forest through the narrow gorge and follow the small creek, after about 40 minutes we arrived at Halfway Pool which is a beautiful swimming hole. This is where the walk changes to the Red Classification and we couldn't go any further as the kids were not quite big enough to climb over the very large bolder which was a bit of a shame as the water hole at the end of the gorge is meant to be stunning, ah well next time...

We chilled out at Halfway pool and enjoyed the cool water and then returned to the car for a late lunch before we drove back to camp. Just after 4pm we drove up the 4wd track to the top of Saddleback Ridge and it was great to have the 4wd back into low range, the views from the top are fantastic and we enjoyed the sunset before returning to the station for a shower then back to camp for dinner and bed.
