Gibb River to Home Valley Station - Day 65, 12/06/2016

First port of call today was the Ellenbrae Station for their famous scones and tea which were massive and very delicious. The grounds here are very well kept and the green scenery is a nice change from the dry Kimberley bush land.

Upon leaving I noticed that the electronic brake controller was not registering the sole remaining trailer brake, after some quick troubleshooting I couldn't locate the issue so we decided to continue on at a reduced pace to Home Valley Station. I had the brakes and backing plates replaced prior to the trip by a small local workshop at home and I'm not impressed with their work and I suspect they have used cheap dodgy parts. I certainly didn't expect to have any issues considering they are new parts.

We stopped at a lookout just before turning off to Home Valley Station that provides an awesome view of the Cockburn Ranges and Anna got really excited as she briefly got some phone reception and her phone lit up like a Christmas tree. From here it was a short drive to Home Valley where we checked in and were allocated a powered site, the camp ground and facilities are pretty average considering the price you pay. We had originally planned to stay down on the river but after the many short travel days and not the greatest solar our batteries needed a decent charge.

We were soon joined by another traveling family and it was great for our kids to have kids of a similar age to play with and we really enjoyed chatting with Rick and Nicki, if you guys do move to QLD we would love to catch up with you again. The kids are having a great time and love playing in the playground and swimming in the pool so being in the  main camp ground has been good in that regard. We had a few beers in the Dusty Bar before returning to camp to have lamb curry for dinner.

Distance Traveled = 181 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 30,813, km
Total number of nights in the camper = 196
