Cape York - Day 25, Granite Gorge Nature Park to Paronella Park 10/07/2018

Last night was much cooler and I'm glad we had the doona in our swag… This morning we explored the nature park and the kids held some snakes and birds before we grabbed some Wallaby food and headed down to Wallaby rock. Here we spent almost an hour feeding the Wallabies and the kids had a great time, they are very friendly and keen to get a feed. Our tip would be to feed them in the mornings like we did, apparently they get a little full by the arvo and aren't so keen later in the day.

Next stop was the Coffee Works in Mareeba, it was great to have a look around again and taste some of the chocolate and yummy liqueurs. After picking up some of our favourite liqueurs and some gifts for family and friends we had another proper coffee before hitting the road again.

Our route took us through Atherton and then Malanda and Milla Milla where we stopped for a look at each of the falls which were quite spectacular. This drive through the rain forests and over the ranges was really scenic, we will have to come back and explore this region between  Atherton and Townsville at some point as there is so much to see here.

Not too much further on we arrived at Paronella Park and the chaos... This place is very popular and I'm glad we booked a campsite for the night,  after checking in and getting the skinny on the tours and facilities we set up and had a very late lunch. Later in the arvo we had our first tour through the ruins and the gardens and learned all about the history of the park. Next was the hydro tour and I found it very interesting, to think this park was fully powered and self sufficient 10+ years before the area had mains power was amazing. The highlight for the entire family was the night tour and it was fantastic to see the ruins and gardens in a completely different light, if you come to Paronella Park we absolutely recommend staying the night so you can go on the night tour its a must do.
