Cape York - Day 5, Lions Den Hotel to Musgrave Roadhouse 20/06/2018

This morning we were on the road just after 8 and making our way towards the start of the Peninsular Development Road (PDR), around morning tea time we camp across the Split Rock Art site and we pulled in for a look. To view the rock art the traditional owners ask for $5 per person and after paying the fees we started the climb up the steep escarpment to the art sites. The rock art here is pretty good,  not as good as the art site we saw in the Kimberley and the NT but interesting and well worth the effort to have a look and broke up the otherwise fairly boring drive.

The PDR is a mix of dirt and bitumen but pretty good going and we arrived at the Musgrave Roadhouse just after lunch, we set up camp and then took care of some chores and washing of clothes. We were one of the first to set up but during the afternoon the campground filled up to be very packed and we started to worry that these crowds and packed campgrounds might be a sign of things to come...

Just on dusk the staff at the roadhouse feed the turtles and fresh water crocs which the kids enjoyed watching.

Distance travelled = 257km
