Cape York - Day 6, Musgrave Roadhouse to Bramwell Junction 21/06/2018
Last night we were joined by a few campers around our fire and some of them recommended an alternative route to cut out some of the monotonous PDR and to visit Port Stewart. It added about 150km to our trip but was well worth it. The drive was spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed the varying countryside and almost no traffic of this particular route.
We had lunch at Port Stewart which coincided with low tide so we had a good view of the mudflats and the mangroves. From here we made it into Coen via the back roads and treated ourselves to an overpriced ice cream each. From here it was more time on the PDR and then on the Telegraph Road (not track yet) before we arrived at the Bramwell Junction Roadhouse around 4.30 in the afternoon.
The camp ground was less full and the amenities here were the best of the trip so far, after dinner Anna and I settled in for a few drinks around the fire before retiring to bed and dream of the Old Telegraph Track (OTT)....
Distance travelled = 413km
