Shady Camp - Day 98, 15/07/2016

We did only plan to have 2 nights at Shady Camp but we were all having a great time and it was a unanimous decision to stay another night. I was determined to continue to try my luck with my demented soft plastic lures and at $7.70 per night for the family we could afford the camp fees.

After breakfast we walked up to the Crocodile spotting platform on the fresh water side of the barrage and managed to spot 3 crocodiles in 5 minutes all within 200 meters of river in broad daylight. On our way back to camp the kids spotted a couple of Corella's that had also been caught in fishing line, unfortunately they were up high in the trees and had already passed away. When chatting to the Rangers they mentioned that it was a common occurrence and wasn't necessarily accidental all the time with a number of snare being found in trees, it really pisses me off that there are mongrel human beings out there that deliberately set out to kill and torture animals.

On some better news the Boo Book Owl made it through the night and was doing well which made the kids really happy. Still no luck on the Barra front, we will have to come back again with a boat and try again in the future. We love it here and will definitely come back.

Distance Traveled = 11 km
