Kununurra to El Questro Station - Day 69, 16/06/2016
This morning we said our goodbyes to Kerry and Peter and Brad and Jane, we are heading in different directions from today and it very unlikely that our paths will cross again. Its been great catching up with them every couple of days and exchanging information and having a laugh. The kids have thoroughly enjoyed having their surrogate grand parent cuddles and attention. We will hopefully catch up with you both at some point in the future.
After leaving the caravan park we drove out to the Hoochery to sample some of their Rum which was interesting and different to what we are used to. It was then onto the Sandlewood factory which the girls loved and my job was to have the wallet ready to pay for the goodies. From here we drove west back towards the Gibb River Road as we were staying at El Questro station for the next few nights.
We booked a private riverside camp as we are well and truly over being camped on top of by huggers (complete strangers that like to be nice and close). We arrived at El Questro Station after crossing the Pentecost River again and we could tell immediately that we would like it better than Home Valley. The staff are great and very helpful, the grounds are well kept and the facilities are nice and clean. We were allocated our riverside spot and we collected a heap of information to plan the next couple of days, there is heaps to see and do here.
We set up camp and then later in the afternoon we drove back to the station to have a swim in the swimming hole, had a shower and then went to the Swinging Arm Bar for happy hour and "pizza night' which was great with a live musician.
