Shady Camp to Ubirr - Day 99, 16/07/2016

This morning we dragged ourselves away from Shady Camp, we loved our time here and can see why groups of grey nomads make this place home for a couple of months each year.

Today we entered Kakadu National Park and we had to make our way to the Bowali Information to pay for our National Park pass, this hurt the hip pocket a little at $100 for our family valid for 7 days.... We did manage to have it extended out to 14 days when we expressed that we wanted to stay longer than 7 nights. We then travelled north to the Merl campground near Ubirr and found a suitable spot. This campground was well laid out and had flushing toilets and showers but it comes at a cost of $38 per family per night...

Later in the afternoon we checked out Cahills Crossing into Arnhem Land and then made our way to Ubirr to look at the art work and to settle in for sunset over the Arnhem wetlands. Anna and and I did this 10 years ago really enjoyed it, the experience was exactly the same albeit with 3 times the number of people this time.

We made our way back to camp and enjoyed a delicious Beef Massaman Curry  that Anna had slow cooking in the Eco Pot before retiring to the camper for Saturday Night movies with the kids.

Distance Traveled = 221 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 33,361 km
Total number of nights in the camper = 230
