Southern Lost City to Lorella Springs - Day 113, 30/07/2016
Anna and I were up early to watch the sunrise over the Lost City which we enjoyed albeit a cold start to the day. Once the sun rose and warmed us up we had some breakfast and packed up the camper before starting the walk around the Lost City. This walk would have to be one of the most spectacular walks we have been on and the rock formations are much more impressive than the Lost City in Litchfield National Park. We would thoroughly recommend stopping in here for a night to watch sunset and sunrise over the Lost City and to complete the walk.
Our camp for the next few days will be in 1 million acres of Lorella Springs and it was only a short drive along a pretty ordinary access road before we arrived at the Lorella Homestead. Here we were greeted by the friendly staff and given the run down of what to see and where to go, we decided to setup in the main campground for a couple of nights so we could make the most of the facilities and check out some of the sites closest to the homestead.
Its quiet dry at the moment and they had a very poor wet season so there isn't a lot of water around. This afternoon we decided to drive out and have a look at Musterers Cave and The Arches and on the drive we encountered our first major bull dust holes. We had a great time looking around and playing in the bull dust I'm not sure we will ever get the 4wd clean again. We made our way back to the Homestead just in time for a few happy hour beers before having a shower, dinner and then movie night with the kids.
Distance Traveled = 45 km
