Burketown to Normanton - Day 126, 12/08/2016

The wind picked up early this morning and made little things like boiling the kettle an interesting task, we quickly packed up to get out of the wind and made our way back out onto the Savannah Way. We stopped in at Leichhardt Falls (not flowing) after an hour or so and had morning tea over looking the water, the kids had a great time climbing over the rocks and spotting fresh water crocs. Its quiet a beautiful spot, unfortunately our supplies are starting to get quite low and if we had more supplies (grog) and it wasn't so early in the day we would have camped here for a night or two.

After Leichhardt Falls the road changes back into dirt but its in very good condition and it didn't take long for us to reach Burke and Wills Camp 119 where we had lunch and then checked out camp and the information signs. It was great to close the loop on the Burke and Wills story with the girls and they started to realise what an epic journey it was.

From here it was just a short drive on a sealed road into Normanton where we grabbed an unpowered site and then restocked with the essentials before having a swim in the pool.  Happy hour was fast approaching so we all had a a shower then went for a walk through town checked out Kyrs the crocodile and made our way to The Purple Pub for a few beers.

Distance Traveled = 221 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 35,929 km
Total number of nights in the camper = 258
