Liechhardts Lagoon to Cumberland Chimney - Day 131, 17/08/2016
Overnight we had a shower of rain which resulted in Anna and I running around trying to make sure all of our gear was under cover, it wasn't much rain and in the morning the camper was dry and we were treated to another beautiful day. After breakfast the girls returned to their trees's and we slowly packed up and got ready to leave, when we were almost ready the Gulflander train rumbled by which nice to see.
Once on the road we caught up to the Gulflander again and we stopped a few kilometers up the road to gather some fire wood and to allow the girls to stand by the track and wave to the passengers, the driver was great sounding the horn several times and all of the passengers waved and cheered at the girls.
From here we made our to Croydon where we topped up with diesel ($1.24 per liter) and grabbed a few more supplies, we also found a nice little park and had our lunch . We had planned to free camp at the Cumberland Chimmney and Wetlands tonight and the comments on Wikicamps suggested that you need to get in early to grab a spot. We arrived just after 2pm and there were still plenty of spots, we took one overlooking the water it was on a bit of a slope but we managed to level the camper out and had the best views. The girls had a great time bird watching and we managed to add a few new species to the list of birds spotted so far o this trip. This free camp is a nice stop over with new eco toilets but it does get full so get in early.
Distance Traveled = 241 km
