Riversleigh to Burketown - Day 125, 11/08/2016
I had heard that camping on the Gregory River in Gregory Downs was an awesome experience and we were looking forward to it after seeing some of the photo's, unfortunately when we arrived at Gregory Downs we discovered that there was no water in the river. Its not quite as enticing when the river bed is dry.
We decided to continue north and drive another 120kms to Burketown, as we skipped lunch we found the pub grabbed a beer and had a late lunch. We also picked up a bottle of red for later tonight and then set out to find the free camp on the Albert River. When we arrived we found quite a few campers already setup but we tucked ourselves away in a back corner as far as we could get from everyone else. Upon chatting to a few of the other campers we found out that several of them had been there for a number of weeks, can't blame them it is a nice spot and I would be happy to stay longer if only we had a boat. After setting up we chilled out around camp and then after dinner we settled in for a few drinks once the kids had gone to bed.
Distance Traveled = 246 km
