Simpson Desert - Day 8, Rig Road 24/06/2017

We all had a great nights sleep it was so still and quiet and I wish we could have that level of peace  and quiet all the time. We are sill running off QLD time and as a result we are regularly sleeping in until well past 7am. After breakfast and a leisurely pack up we were back on the track, todays driving was a little more challenging with lots of dune crossings with rutted and eroded clap capping.

We also had a fair bit of travelling in the swales of the dunes in a northerly or southerly direction as the Rig Road deviated around lakes, I can see why some people prefer this route as the scenery is constantly changing and you aren't constantly driving up and down dunes. We only passed one group of 2 vehicles today but we heard a fair bit of radio chatter as the Rig Road runs parallel to the WAA line in some sections and whilst its nice to be but ourselves its also handy to know others aren't too far away.

Tonight camp is almost at the end of the Rig Road where it joins the WAA line for the run west where the WAA line joins the French Line not far from Purni Bore. Anna has been on the lookout for Camels over the last 2 days but we haven't seen any so far, we did spot one dingo this morning the poor little bugger had a very bad limp.

Distance Travelled - 165km.
