Simpson Desert - Day 11, Dalhousie Springs to WAA Line 27/06/2017

Our hopes of a dry pack up were dashed with constant light rain throughout the night. After a quick breakfast and timing our pack up before the next band of showers came through we left Dalhousie Springs and started to head back into the desert.

We stopped at Purni Bore for morning tea and had a chat with a solo motorcyclist who happily accepted one of Anna's scones. Most of today's driving was covering the same territory that we drove through to get to Dalhousie Springs but by mid afternoon we had reached the intersection of the Colson Track, Rig Road and WAA Lines and from here on it was new ground to explore.

From here the track got a little tougher and the dunes a little bigger but the sand was firm and the rain was helping to pack it down. Speaking of the rain nothing quite beats the smell you get from rain falling on dry desert if I could bottle it I would. The afternoon was getting away from us and the wind had picked up and the skies were getting even darker so we found a campsite, setup and had an early dinner. We then joined the girls in their very cosy Roof Top Tent to escape the weather and have a family movie night before retiring to our swag.

Distance Travelled - 152km.
