Yulara - Day 27, 5/5/2016

Today was a huge day of walking and I'm so proud of the girls for completing all of the walks with out too much complaining, we were up early to get out to the sunrise viewing platform along with every other man and his dog.

After sunrise we drove to the Kuniya Carpark and started the base walk from there, it was an overcast day which helped to keep the temperatures down and made walking very pleasant. Uluru was closed to climbers due to the pending rain and I'm still unsure if I would have climbed it or not even if it were open. We walked into the Kantju Gorge and the Mutijulu Waterhole and all up the kids would have done just over 12kms. I'm glad we did the base walk as you get a very different perspective once you are up close and personal. I'll let the photo's do the talking, unfortunately most of the really spectacular spots are sensitive sites and we were asked not to take photo's or video.

We returned to camp for lunch and then drove out to the Olga's and completed the Walpa Gorge walk which was 2.6km return and very spectacular. On the way out to the Olga's it started to rain very lightly and was a sign of what was to come. Once back at camp it really started to rain and we had to hide under our small rear awning to cook tea and stay dry. We retired to bed early to get out of the rain.

Distance Traveled = 124 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 25,476 km
Total number of nights in the camper = 170
