Lamberts Centre to Chambers Pillar - Day 20, 28/04/2016

This morning I found our first mechanical issue on the Triton, we have torn an upper CV boot and I was able to make a temporary fix with good old cable ties and a plastic bag. I will have to get it repaired in Alice when we arrive in a couple of days. After packing up we left Lamberts Centre of Australia and back tracked a little to Finke where we rejoined the Old Ghan Heritage Trail and continued north to Chambers Pillar.

The track was in pretty good condition with some boggy sections of sand but nothing we couldn't handle, the most difficult part was playing dodge the railway spikes. We saw a couple of guys on motorbikes practicing on the Finke race track so had to keep an eye out for them and their support vehicles who don't muck around and fly along the track. It wasn't long until we were turning left onto the track into Chambers Pillar and by 2.30 we had arrived at the campground and selected our spot.

There were a couple of day trippers here when we arrived but they left soon after we got there and we once again had the camp ground to ourselves. Just before sunset we walked out to Chambers Pillar and climbed up to have a look at all the carvings made by the early explorers and then enjoyed a sunset from the viewing platform. Then it was back to camp for a delicious chicken satay dinner before retiring to bed.
