Dalhousie Springs to Lamberts Centre of Australia - Day 19, 27/04/2016

We were up just after 7am today and the first action was to get into our togs for a swim, the warm water was much more enjoyable in the cooler morning air. It was then time for breakfast and some more school work before packing up and heading for Mount Dare. I had heard that the roads to Mount Dare were in pretty ordinary condition and a tip fom the Ranger was to continue onto Bloods Creek Bore and then head north to Mount Dare as the roads were a little better which they were and this route allowed us to see a few more ruins and learn about the history of the area.

We stopped in at Mount Dare for lunch and to fuel up ($2 per litre) this was our most expensive fill up to date as I filled the jerry cans too as I was told getting diesel in Finke was hit and miss. From Mount Dare north over the NT border the roads improved and we were able to make good progress, we did have to watch out for the odd bull dust hole just north of Charlotte Waters but nothing too bad. We turned left at Finke and drove the 30 odd kilometers out to Lamberts Geographical Centre of Australia where we camped for the night. The kids thought it was pretty cool to sleep right in the middle of Australia.

Distance Traveled = 210 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 24,658 km
Total number of nights in the camper = 162
