Alice Springs - Day 24, 2/5/2016

We woke up to rain in the early hours of the morning, it had been threatening to rain yesterday afternoon and it finally broke through. By the time we got up the rain had cleared but we had an overcast day.

Today we ventured off to the West MacDonnell Ranges to visit some of the attractions closest to Alice, first we had to top up with diesel ($1.14 per litre). Simpsons Gap was our first port of call and we were lucky enough to spot a Black Footed Wallaby, this is our first visit to this part of the world and Anna and I love the scenery we can't wait to see more of it. Next up was Stanely Chasm which was a nice stop, I thought the $30 entry fee for the family was a bit steep but it is what it is and we enjoyed the walk and the chasm. We then continued a little further west and found a 4wd track that took us down into Birthday and Reedy Hole Waterholes and it was nice to do a bit of 4wding without the camper attached. It was great to get away from some of the crowds and see more of the beautiful country, it has really peaked our interest in the area and Anna and I have started to plan a future trip back to walk the Larapinta Trail.

Distance Traveled = 172 km
Total distance traveled with camper = 25,028 km
Total number of nights in the camper = 167
