Merty Merty to Innaminka - Day 6, 14/04/2016

We all had a great nights sleep it must be the fresh air and the deathly silence of the desert, we really are enjoying the solitude and remoteness so far on this trip not a lot of other people around at this point.

Whilst I packed up the girls had their daily school lessons with Anna in the camper away from the flies... Today we are heading to Innaminka via the Old Strzelecki track which we had heard was open and in pretty good condition. The southern half below the newer Stzrelecki track was in good condition and I guess is maintained by the mining companies still operating in this area. The northern section running from the intersection of the new track and into Innaminka was a different story, nothing too tough but rough going with lots of washouts track deviations and corrugations.

We arrived in Innaminka just after lunch and headed to the Trading Post to get some fresh supplies and our bearings before heading down to the Town Common camping area where we found a nice spot right on the river under the shade of some beautiful old River Red Gums. It was a warm day so after our hot and dusty set up we all cooled off in the Cooper Creek, after a late lunch and another swim we drove out to Burke's Memorial for a look around. We took our time reading all the signs and explaining what happened to the kids. Then it was back into town for a proper shower and a few beers at the pub.
