Coongie Lakes to Cadelga Ruins - Day 10, 18/04/2016

This morning we all got up before sunrise to take some pictures and enjoy one more sunrise over the lake before packing up. As we were taking some photo's a couple of dingo's broke into chorus right behind our camp and we were lucky enough to see one of them as he ran away when got too close.

We packed up earlier than normal as we had a big day of driving and I wasn't sure what condition the Cordillo Downs Road was in. When we got back to Innaminka we filled up with diesel ($1.60 per liter) and all had a shower before heading out towards Cordillo Downs just after lunch. Th road from Innanminka to Cordillo Downs was in pretty good condition with the only bad spots being the creek crossings which were all dry.

We arrived at Cordillo Downs at 3pm and I was really disappointed, the pictures you see online do this place more justice than its deserves and I was under the impression that some of the interior had been preserved. I didn't realise that it was next to the current homestead and was being used as general storage space, even the information signs were in bad repair with bird droppings all of them making large sections unreadable...

From here the road deteriorates and on one occasion we hit a washout on a blind corner faster than we should have.... We took it easy from here on in and didn't get to travel much faster than 30km per hour in most places. We finally arrived at Cadelga Ruins and set up camp as the sun was going down, in my opinion these ruins were more impressive than Cordillo Downs. We camped down by the creek and had the place to ourselves again. After dinner we all headed off to bed nice and early.

Distance Traveled = 350km
Total distance traveled with camper = 23,036km
Total number of nights in the camper = 153
