Amamoor Creek, Amamoor State Forest - 17th and 18th October

As most of the regular readers of the blog will know, our favourite thing to do is get away from suburbia and spend some quality time together as a family free from life’s distractions. Unfortunately we are going to have a few commitments that keep us away from camping for a few weeks so we thought it best to go camping again this weekend.  This trip was just an overnight camp to the Amamoor Creek Camping area in the Amamoor State Forest.

We hitched up the camper and headed north just after 8am on Saturday morning and it didn’t take long to arrive at the camp ground. We selected a nice little spot and quickly finished our overnight setup. Shortly after that the kettle was on and morning tea was served, the kids took off on their bikes and Anna and I relaxed in camp. Just before lunch we decided to test out the travel Monopoly that Anna had found a few weeks before, we had a great time playing together and I was surprised how ruthless the girls could be. We broke play for lunch and then continued well into the afternoon, we all had a great time playing together and look forward to the next battle…

Late afternoon was spent down in the creek, it was a warm day and the girls enjoyed splashing around. Once back at camp it was time for some afternoon Bocce, bike riding, Frisbee and hand stand competitions. It soon got dark and we lit the fire and settled in for the evening with dinner and drinks.

After a restful night’s sleep we woke to a warm and clear morning, we had a quick breakfast of bacon and eggs and then the kids were off exploring whilst we started to pack up. We wanted to walk the Amama walking track which is located near the day use area one the way into the Amamoor State Forest. At the end of the walk is a set of cascades which we wanted to check out. It was a beautiful walk not too difficult and we soon found the cascades. There wasn’t much water flowing over the rocks but still a very pretty spot with a great little pool to swim in on a warmer day. After we finished the walk we jumped back in the car and headed for home to prepare for another week of work and school.

Trip Distance = 226km
Total distance travelled with camper = 19,805km
Total number of nights in the camper = 135
