Lawn Hill - Day 123, 09/08/2016

This morning we made our way out to Lawn Hill National Park and walked to Indarri Falls with Tim, Kath and their 3 girls. The walk in was not too strenuous and the girls all kept each other amused which was great as we didn't have to listen to any complaints. We got our first view of the falls from a lookout and we couldn't wait to get down there into the spectacular water. We all had a great time swimming and playing in the water and exploring the falls and rock ledges, I'm really glad we made the effort to come in here as it was very enjoyable and great to have a swim after the last few days in the dust. We had lunch back at main car park with the intention of then walking out to the Cascades but the pontoon bridge was damaged and these walks were closed, so we made it back to camp where all the girls played together while Anna and I chilled in the bar checked our emails and then had a few beers with Tim and Kath. Cape York - Day 14, Loyalty Beach to Punsand Bay 29/06/2018

Another morning of excitement as today we finally make it to the northern most tip of Australia… We took the shortcut from Loyalty Beach which cuts off 30 mins and another trip back through Bamaga and we soon arrived at the Croc tent where we stopped for some souvenirs and got the good oil on some of the tracks and attractions. Next stop was the Tip and after a short but scenic drive through some rain forest we arrived at the car park. We packed our back pack with the necessary refreshments and set off o the 700m scramble up over the rocks. The views on this walk out over the ocean across to the islands were sensational and it wasn't long until we were cracking our first beers and standing by the famous sign. Once we had our fill of celebratory beers and taken all of the obligatory photo's we made our way back to the car via a different route along the coast and through some mangroves. Cape York - Day 27, O'Connell River to Calliope River 12/07/2018

Another transit today, on previous trips we had camped at the free camp on the Calliope River so this was our destination for the day. Anna was craving another proper coffee and wanted to show the girls where her family used to stay in Mackay, so we took a detour off the highway and had a coffee and morning tea at the Mackay Marina. The park Anna used to play in as a kid was still there... We stopped in at Claireview for lunch and Anna and I think we could retire here one day, a very beautiful little spot. We started to hit the road works today but otherwise we made good time and had an uneventful drive south. Late in the arvo we pulled off the highway into Calliope River, this place is very popular with camping on both sides of the river. The area is huge and we managed to find a nice pot looking down over the river. Distance travelled = 541km
