Birdsville Trip Day 3 Quilpie to Haddon Corner 450km
We woke to a beautiful morning with a spectacular sunrise over Lake Houdraman. This morning we took our time packing up and I did a last minute check over the car and camper as we hit the dirt today.
Our first stop for the day was Windorah which was our last opportunity for fuel and water before reaching Birdsville. We filled up the car and 2 jerry cans then visited the Windorah Pub for a couple of beers and a burger for lunch.
After lunch we continued on to Haddon Corner, the road conditions were good and we were soon turning onto the Birdsville Development road and the beginning of the dirt roads. We pulled over and let the tyres down and continued on. The roads appeared to have been recently graded and were quiet good, the only rough sections were the last section to Haddon Corner.
Around 3.30 we arrived at Haddon Corner and had a couple of beers in Qld and SA. We had a chat to a couple of other travelers and signed the guest book. After an hour or so we crossed a couple of sand dunes and found a nice spot to camp. It was so peaceful as we were the only ones there and the weather was nice and warm. We relaxed around the fire and had a few drinks, just before going to bed the wind picked up and buffeted the camper all night resulting in a sleepless night for us all.
