Kenilworth Homestead - 4th and 5th July
We were meant to go camping at Charlie Morelands camp ground
for this weekend but after seeing how full the campground was going to be when
I tried to book (school holidays) we decided to have another weekend at
home. On Friday Anna received a picture from her work mate Brendan showing us
his camp site at Kenilworth Homestead with an invite to join them. With the
weather forecast looking good for the weekend we decided we couldn’t sit at
home, so we rang and made a booking.
We left home mid-morning on Saturday and it didn’t take long
for us to climb over the range through Maleny and before we knew it we were
arriving at the homestead. Having never been to Kenilworth Homestead before we
didn’t know what to expect, we pulled up at the office to check in and were
greeted by the friendly staff. They gave us some quick directions on how to
find Brendan and his family down by the river, we were surprised at how large
the camp grounds were. Being school holidays there were plenty of families
camping here but with lots of space it certainly didn’t feel crowded. We found
Brendan’s camp and quickly set up, the kids were all introduced to each other
and they all set off together to explore the river and the camp grounds. We
chilled out around the camp fire and enjoyed a few drinks with Brendan and
Robyn while we over looked the river and the kids having an awesome time
together with new friends.
We had a great time camping at Kenilworth Homestead, the
camp grounds are huge with clean facilities and heaps of open space to soak up
the winter sun. We will definitely come back for another visit maybe in the
warmer months so the kids could enjoy swimming in the river.
Trip Distance = 116km
