Cedar Grove, Amamoor State Forest - 14 to 16 November

On Friday we had a Public Holiday courtesy of the G20, we met Sharna and Paul at school around 1pm and took the kids out of school early. We hit the road and just after an hour we arrived at the Cedar Grove Camp site. It was a very warm day and it was hot work setting up in the sun, the forecast for Saturday and Sunday was 40 degrees and it didn't feel far off that. As we were finishing our set-up Bron and Steve arrived and once they were set up we went down to the creek for a swim to cool off.

On Saturday morning we chilled around camp and prepared for the day, we took the kids down to the creek and enjoyed another swim. Some  other kids were jumping off the rocks into a deep part of the pool and Steve and I couldn't help ourselves (big kids) and we joined them having a great time jumping the 3 or 4 meters into the water. The day was getting really hot and we spent most of our time moving between the swimming hole and chilling out in the shade around camp. Late in the afternoon we had happy our and then one more swim just before dark to cool off and get ready for dinner.

We were up bright and early on Sunday morning and started packing up, unfortunately I had to travel to Canberra for work in the afternoon which meant we had to leave by 10am in order to get home, unpack and then make my way to the airport. It was another very hot day and packing up after breakfast was sweaty work, once we were done we had one more swim to cool off then we made our way home after saying our good byes to the others who were staying on for another couple of hours.

The traffic on the way home was chaotic, it seemed like most of Brisbane had come north to the Sunshine Coast for the long weekend. We came to a complete stand still just after the Sunshine Motorway on-ramp, fortunately we were able to get off the Bruce highway and take some back roads into Mooloolah and then onto Steve Irwin Way...

We had a great time at Cedar Grove, they have recently upgraded all the facilities and its a nice spot in the warm weather as the swimming hole is great for all ages. Its a favourite of ours and I'm sure we will be back. We forgot our camera again so we had to use the camera's on our phones, sorry about the poor quality.

Trip Distance = 220km
Total distance travelled with camper = 14,908km
