Cobb and Co 9 Mile Camp Ground - 19th to 21st of February

Our eldest daughter Erin qualified for the Glass House Districts swimming carnival and  this allowed us to get away on Friday afternoon after school. It didn't take long for us to travel north to Cobb and Co 9 Mile camp grounds and after another warm friendly greeting by Katherine we found our spot and set up for the weekend. A little later in the afternoon we were joined by family friends John and Jan and Anna's parents Greg and Lenore and we all settled in around the fire for dinner and drinks. After dinner Mad Nick the bushranger held up our camp and made Erin do some pushups as we didn't have any loot for him. On Friday night a slow moving storm passed over and we were woken in the middle of the night by very heavy rain which is when I remembered that I had left the canopy on the ute open…

Our usual camping buddies Bron, Steve and Alana arrived mid-morning on Saturday and were soon set up and relaxing with the rest of us. Cobb and Co is one of our favourite locations, the camp sites are spread out so you don’t feel cramped, there is plenty to keep the kids amused and out of our hair, the facilities are great and Sean and Katherine and all the staff are very friendly and accommodating. At 10am we wondered down to the camp kitchen so the kids could have their train ride around the lagoon, this time they were held up by Mad Nick the bushranger which the kids all loved. After the excitement of the train ride we took it down a notch and went for a drive down the road to the Mothar Mountain Rock pools for a look and a swim. This place is quite popular so you need to get in early for a car park and a decent spot in the pools. For the rest of the day we chilled out in camp, went for a swim and took the kids up for a pony ride later in the afternoon. Happy hour was soon upon us and it was time to get the fires going for dinner, tonight Bron and Anna had organised a beautiful roast lamb and vegies.

On Sunday we woke to clear skies and another warm day, we slowly packed up camp and then took the kids down for one final swim before heading home. We had another fantastic camping trip away with great friends and family and once we are back from our 6 month trip we will be coming back to Cobb and Co 9 Mile.

Trip Distance = 203km
Total distance travelled with camper = 20,785km
Total number of nights in the camper = 143
