Poverty Creek, Bribie Island - 31st July to 2nd August
We set off from home on Friday afternoon after picking the kids up from school, Bribie Island is nice and close and it wasn't long before we were airing down for the short trip up the Northern Access 4wd track to the Poverty Creek camp ground. The track in was in fairly good condition and we had no trouble towing the camper in on the sandy tracks.
After a quick set up we got the fire going and were soon joined by our good mate Vaughan, he had recently got himself a camper trailer and this was his first trip away with it. It soon got dark and Anna cooked up a delicious chicken curry and we settled in around the fire for the night.
On Saturday morning we were greeted with a beautiful day, after a quick cup of coffee and breakfast we headed down to the passage to do some fishing. I brought my kayak and spent most of the morning out on the water and managed to pick a few nice bream. Just after lunch Vaughan left to pick up Nat from work and they returned a couple of hours later. We had a great time catching up with good mates and enjoying a beautiful winter afternoon down by the passage overlooking the Glass House mountains. For dinner we had a delicious lamb roast dinner and then more drinks around the fire while listening to the footy.
Sunday was another a beautiful day, we spent the morning chilling out before slowly packing up. We left just after lunch and had an uneventful journey home. The camp ground at Poverty Creek is getting quite popular now that you can have fires in the group/camper trailer area, we love coming here in winter and look forward to our next trip back here.
Trip Distance = 160km
