Glastonbury, Brooyar State Forest - 15th and 16th August
We left a little later than usual for this trip as I had to install the new deep cycle batteries into the camper and collect some fire wood. We hit the road shortly after 9 am and made our way north on the Bruce Highway. It wasn't long before we were turning left in Gympie to head out to the Brooyar State forest. Access to the camp ground is via a dirt road that's in good condition. http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/brooyar/camping.html When we arrived we found Bron, Steve and Alana who had arrived a little earlier and set about setting up camp. We spent most of the day relaxing in camp, after lunch Steve and I took the kids for a bush bash through the scrub to climb a little escarpment that we could see from camp. It was a good way to burn off some of the kids energy and the views from the top looking over the valley and camp ground were fantastic. Late in the arvo we got the fire going so we could cook our casserole dinner and settled in for the evening with a few drink...
