Noosa North Shore Beach Campground - 18th to 20th October

This was our first family get away after our Birdsville trip and after the dust of the outback it was nice to enjoy some coastal scenery. This was out first time at the Noosa North Shore Beach Campground and we arrived on Saturday morning around 11am to find a very full campground, the manager told us he had over 300 people booked in for the weekend. We drove around looking for a suitable camp spot, there is an open area that was very popular and didn’t offer many options so we found a spot in the bush section of the park and were setup just after lunch.

Saturday afternoon was spent chilling out around camp and spending some time down on the beach swimming and fishing. The wind picked up in the afternoon and it brought passing showers for most of the evening and  night, fortunately the spot we had selected was fairly protected from the wind.

Sunday morning was overcast with the occasional passing shower, I got up early and went for a fish but the fish weren’t around and along with the rain I wasn’t having fun so I gave up and returned to camp for a coffee and breakfast. After breakfast we relaxed in camp waiting for the weather to improve and watched most of our neighbours pack up and head off, we were staying another night as Monday was a pupil free day. Just before lunch the weather improved and we had an awesome day on the beach and around camp. Happy hour was spent up the dune looking out over the ocean which was beautiful and relaxing.

On Monday morning we were greeted with another beautiful day and we slowly packed up after breakfast to make sure we were ready to checkout by 11am. After packing up we headed down to the beach for one last swim and then we were on our way home. The Noosa North Shore Beach campground is a nice place to visit, we normally don’t camp up on Teewah beach due to the constant 4wd traffic heading up the beach. 4wd’s aren’t allowed on the beach out the front of the campground which is great as we didn’t have to worry about the kids running out in front of traffic. We had a great time on this trip but I don’t think we will be camping here again, the camp fees were $74 for our family for 2 nights and if you wanted to use the showers you had to pay for the privilege. Given that we have a 4wd and are fully self-sufficient we will get our beach camping fix at Bribie Island as its closer and much cheaper. For people who need facilities and either don’t have a 4wd or don’t want to 4wd to a beach camp site this camp ground is fantastic if  you don’t mind paying a premium (and the Nossa river barge fare too).

Trip Distance = 181km
Total distance travelled with camper = 14,418km
Total number of nights in the camper = 99

Sorry about the phone pics
