Ocean Beach, Bribie Island - Easter 2015
Every Easter we head over to camp on the beach on Bribie Island, we usually camp at camp site 11 but this year we needed a bigger space as Anna's parents and her sister Katrina and her family were joining us. We booked camp sites 54 and 55 this and we arrived on the low tide on Thursday afternoon. The weather forecast for the weekend wasn't the greatest and just after arriving at camp site 54 and backing the trailer into position we had to wait for a rather heavy shower to pass before setting up the camper.
It rained on and off during Thursday afternoon and through the night. Luckily the showers cleared Friday morning and we had really good weather for the remainder of the weekend with just the occasional scattered showers and light breezes.
Anna's parents Greg and Lenore and Katrina, Dan and their boys arrived on Saturday afternoon. It was really great spending time with the family. We spent most of the weekend chilling out around camp, swimming and soaking up the sun. The Easter Bunny found our camp on Sunday morning and as always spoilt the kids with chocolate goodies.
QLD National Parks have now installed fire rings at each of the camp sites, you need to bring your own wood as always but it was great to be able to have a fire at the beach.
Monday afternoon came too soon and we had to pack up and head home on the late afternoon low tide, this year all of the lagoons had opened up and were flowing out to sea. They we easily negotiated at low tide but 2 or 3 hours either side of low would be a no go at the moment. All of the recent rain made the beach entry nice and firm and we didn't have to wait for bogged vehicles this year when leaving the beach.
