Yandilla Farmstay - Anzac Day 25th - 27th of April

Another long weekend and another camping trip with good friends, we've been to Yandilla a number of times over the last few years and really enjoy the quiet relaxing stays here. On our last visit for the Australia Day long weekend we noticed that Dave had done some work on his cause way crossing the creek to allow 2 wheel drive access so this time we invited some of our friends to spend the long weekend with us.

We travelled up together and after a short drive (about an hour) we arrived at Yandilla, after signing in (a new process) we were soon at the camp ground and setting up. Over the next 3 days we enjoyed some really beautiful weather and relaxed around camp. The dads took the kids for a long walk up some of the surrounding hills and we were treated with some really nice views out across the valley. The kids had a great time running around and swimming in the creek. Sunday morning arrived all too soon and we slowly packed up in the  morning and then had one last swim in the creek before heading home just after lunch.

Total number of nights in the camper = 78

Mardugal to Maguk - Day 103, 20/07/2016

I was up early again this morning (its my favourite time of day) and enjoyed the sunrise over the billabong that is at the rear of the campground. Once my coffee was finished I returned to camp and the girls were just getting up. Today was only a short drive to our next destination so we took our time packing up and left the campground just after 10.30. We topped up our fuel and drinking water at Cooinda and then continued onto Maguk. We had heard reports that the track into the campground and falls was very rough, Wiki Camps even had comments from a bloke who referred to himself as a "4wd enthusiast" that this was the worst road in Australia and that comment was from 2 weeks ago... We were sadly disappointed when we found a very average gravel road, there were corrugations in parts but not nearly as bad as some of the roads we have been on. Cape York - Day 27, O'Connell River to Calliope River 12/07/2018

Another transit today, on previous trips we had camped at the free camp on the Calliope River so this was our destination for the day. Anna was craving another proper coffee and wanted to show the girls where her family used to stay in Mackay, so we took a detour off the highway and had a coffee and morning tea at the Mackay Marina. The park Anna used to play in as a kid was still there... We stopped in at Claireview for lunch and Anna and I think we could retire here one day, a very beautiful little spot. We started to hit the road works today but otherwise we made good time and had an uneventful drive south. Late in the arvo we pulled off the highway into Calliope River, this place is very popular with camping on both sides of the river. The area is huge and we managed to find a nice pot looking down over the river. Distance travelled = 541km

Ellendale to Broome - Day 36, 14/5/2016

The kids were awake early as they were super excited as today we get to Broome and they get to see Aunty Alex and Uncle Bryce and their dog Ralph. We had an uneventful drive to Broome and arrived just before 11 and had a good time catching up with Bryce and Alex and then spent the afternoon unpacking, washing and cleaning. Bryce and I will be heading out to Rudall River to scatter our Dad's ashes tomorrow, whilst we are away the girls will chill out in Broome. No photo's from today as it was just a transit day. Distance Traveled = 304 km Total distance traveled with camper = 28,920 km   Total number of nights in the camper = 178
